Miami is the new event to be scheduled next year on May the 8th at The Hard Rock Stadium on a ten-year contract and the last time a formula one race was held in Florida was way back in 1959, great to see it back in the Sunshine State . The following races will see back-to-back in Spain and Monaco our showboat event which is expected to change its format to FRI/SAT/SUN instead of having practice sessions on the Thursday. The British and Austrian grand prix maybe swapped around and the week after these 2 there is France/Italy event at the Paul Ricard or Imola, hosted on the 17th of July. The whole season will come to a finale slightly earlier than 2021 with the Abu Dhabi GP being held in November the 20th. The 20-turn, counterclockwise circuit takes advantage of the naturally undulating landscape, including an intimidating 133-foot hill at Turn 1 that must be seen in person to be believed. Nestled within the track is Germania Insurance Amphitheater, the largest permanent outdoor amphitheater in Central Texas, and its 251-foot signature observation tower. Construction of Circuit of The Americas began in 2010 and was funded entirely using private money. Today, COTA contributes almost $1 billion in economic impact to Central Texas through increased tourism and annual operations. The Circuit also continues to be a leader in environmental awareness and sustainability, and has helped make advances in educational and scientific fields, including solar car technology, as well as racing and consumer automotive technology.
With plans for more world championship racing, new amenities, features and more events, COTA is set for excitement for years to come. For an experience as unique as Austin and a rush you'll never forget, go to Circuit of The Americas — where exhilaration happens. "We are excited to announce the 2022 calendar as we prepare to enter a new era for the sport with brand new regulations and cars for next year that are designed to create closer racing," said Stefano Domenicali , President and CEO of Formula 1. "This season has been incredible so far with great battles on the track, large audiences tuning in and fans returning to the races after the impact of the pandemic. After that, the teams will head to the United States for the Miami Grand Prix, which is a new addition to the calendar. Formula One President Stefano Domenicali spoke about the new rules and cars that will be introduced in the 2022 season.
The new regulations, rules and the decision to introduce new cars for much closer racing and competition among teams were announced earlier this year. Formula 1 has announced the race calendar for the 2022 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. A record-breaking 23-race schedule features the inaugural Miami Grand Prix and the return of the Australian, Canadian, Singapore and Japanese Grands Prix – all of which have been absent for two seasons due to the covid-19 pandemic. The F1 Sprint format, which was debuted this year and sees qualifying take place on Friday, sprint qualifying on Saturday and the grand prix on Sunday, is set to make up at least a third of the 2022 calendar. In 2021, all ticketholders could enjoy free Billy Joel and Twentyone Pilots concerts, with pop-up stages hosting bands across the weekend.
And deeper into Austin, bars are full of F1 fans with flowing music and drinks. With the race taking place towards the end of the year, it's a critical time in the F1 season, and could host a title-deciding race in 2022. Pre-season testing is expected to take place at two venues, with the first three days being run at the Barcelona circuit from the February, with Bahrain hosting the second block of running from the March ahead of the grand prix. This will be the first opportunity to see the 2022 cars in action, although teams will naturally keep their cards close to their chest.
Formula One has announced the calendar for its 2022 season with a record 23 Grand Prix. The schedule has been approved by Formula One's governing body FIA's World Motor Sport Council on Friday. The 2022 season will commence from Bahrain rather than its traditional start in Australia. In addition, Formula One will once again be held in Singapore and Canada after a brief hiatus of two years as the races there were cancelled owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. President and CEO of Formula 1 Stefano Domenicali said, "We are excited to announce the 2022 calendar as we prepare to enter a new era for the sport with brand new regulations and cars for next year that are designed to create closer racing.
Always a highlight of the motorsport season, the Monaco Grand Prix is the race most people think of when they imagine Formula 1. Hair-raising racing action through the famous Monte Carlo streets, passing a harbour full of yachts before parties running through the evening. And yes, Monaco does host the VIP event of any sport in the world, but it's also a bucket list event for any fan. With packed grandstands and unique general admission areas overlooking the circuit, it's a race a Formula 1 fan will need to undertake. The new season will begin on March 20 in Bahrain following which teams will make their way to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia for a second time.
Saudi Arabia was announced for the 2021 season and the race has been scheduled for December, later this year. After the 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the Australian GP has been scheduled for April 10. Later, Formula 1 will head to Europe for two weeks for the Emilia Romagna GP in Italy.
The race returns in 2022, and with millions watching with envy from their sofas at home, it's bound to be a popular race for spectators. To make things a little easier, we've secured ticket and hotel packages for fans, who can confidently book both a grandstand ticket and a hotel room in nearby Amsterdam for the whole weekend. The technical regulations will reintroduce the use of ground effect for the first time since they were banned in the 1980s. This will coincide with a simplification of the bodywork, making the underside of the car the primary source of aerodynamic grip.
This aims to reduce the turbulent air in the wake of the cars to allow drivers to follow each other more closely whilst still maintaining a similar level of downforce compared to previous years. Further changes to the aerodynamics are aimed at limiting the teams' ability to control airflow around the front wheels and further reduce the cars' aerodynamic wake. This includes the elimination of bargeboards, the complex aerodynamic devices that manipulate airflow around the body of the car. The front wing and endplates will be simplified, reducing the number and complexity of aerodynamic elements. The rear wings will be wider and mounted higher than in previous years, with additional restrictions in place to limit the constructors' ability to use a car's exhaust gases to generate downforce.
Bodywork will be required to be coated in rubber to reduce the risk of components breaking off cars to minimise the risk of local yellow flags, safety cars, and stoppages. Drivers were consulted on developing the new technical regulations, which were deliberately written to be restrictive so as to prevent teams from developing radical designs that limited the ability of drivers to overtake. The FIA created a specialist Working Group, or committee of engineers, tasked with identifying and closing loopholes in the regulations before their publication. The elimination of loopholes will, in theory, stop one team from having a dominant car, and in turn allow for closer competition throughout the field while improving the aesthetics of the cars.
Red Bull car designer Adrian Newey noted that the regulation changes were the most significant in Formula One since the 1983 season. The 2022 World Championship is due to see an overhaul of the technical regulations. These changes had been planned for introduction in 2021, with teams developing their cars throughout 2020.
However, the introduction of the regulations was delayed until the 2022 championship in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Once the delay was announced, teams were banned from carrying out any development of their 2022 cars during the 2020 calendar year. The 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship is a planned motor racing championship for Formula One cars which will be the 73rd running of the Formula One World Championship. It is recognised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile , the governing body of international motorsport, as the highest class of competition for open-wheel racing cars. The championship is due to be contested over twenty-three Grands Prix, which will be held around the world, and it is scheduled to end earlier than in other recent years to avoid overlapping with the FIFA World Cup.
Drivers and teams are scheduled to compete for the titles of World Drivers' Champion and World Constructors' Champion respectively. Hi CJ, I don't really have much experience with resellers like Vivid, but I think this is previous ticket holders (from last year's race) trying to sell their tickets for this year. I don't recommend buying there as prices are high and there's no guarantee of authenticity. Tickets via COTA are not yet available – normally they go on sale around April, but I don't know about this year. If you want to get tickets now, you can purchase packages from COTA Experiences or F1 Experiences – both official outlets, though many packages include activities above just the seats, so are higher priced. It could be billed as a modern Monaco, with VIPs sipping champagne at beach parties.
But it'll be more accessible too, with Miami Gardens set for a festival of motorsport for everyone to enjoy. There's even been talk of creating a 'campus' atmosphere, and the possibility of viewing areas on the roof of the Hard Rock Stadium. Either way, it's bound to be a special weekend as Miami gets the first Grand Prix of its ten-year deal under its belt. New regulations are set to see the cars become more competitive than ever, increasing the tension and racing action on track.
But after the calendar carnage of the last couple of years, we will also get a racing schedule that looks closer to what we are used to. Australia has been given an April date for its event at Melbourne's reprofiled Albert Park circuit. Sporting events have been held in the country during the pandemic but have taken place under strict quarantine conditions that remain incompatible for Formula 1.
Imola returned to the calendar in 2020, as part of the schedule redrafted due to the pandemic, and received a reprieve for 2021, in effect taking the April slot occupied by China. That situation has been replicated for 2022 and it will again run under the Emilia Romagna title. Italy's other event, at Monza, has been slotted in as the final of a triple-header involving Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps and the Netherlands' Zandvoort, mirroring the 2021 schedule. Elsewhere in the European stretch of the calendar France's event has moved back by a month, forming a double header with Hungary, and it is a grand prix that looks precarious long-term. France's existing contract expires after 2022 and it is not an overwhelmingly popular event. Using the links above you can find the full weekend schedule, including details of practice and qualifying sessions, support races, press conferences and special events, plus the latest news headlines, circuit information and F1 race results.
Another news to report is the confirmation of the sprint qualifying for a third of the races. The system was tested in 2021 at the British and Italian Grand Prix and will also be confirmed for the next calendar. The result will certainly be a more fun show for fans throughout the weekend, with traditional quali starting on Friday afternoon. In the new season the engines will be under more pressure than in the 2021 season, as with 23 grand prix the teams strive to keep the cars in good conditions for the entire season.
In addition, during the new 2022 Formula 1 seasons, new technical regulations will be introduced that could affect the performance of cars. The new season will begin about three months after the end of the 2021 season, the teams, drivers and constructors will have enough time to make all the necessary adjustments and fix the flaws before starting the new world championship. Check here all the important dates for the upcoming Formula 1 season in 2022. With lots of elevation changes, the views from both General Admission areas and most grandstands at COTA are excellent.
Most fans buy a ticket for all 3 days of the weekend , though single-day tickets are normally available; these can be good if seeing the concert on a particular day is important to you. While racing used to take place from Thursday to Sunday, with a Friday break, next season it will follow a more typical schedule. This means Formula 1 practice sessions will take place on Friday, as you'd expect with most Grands Prix. This is followed by the all-important qualifying session on Saturday, often touted as the most important qualification of the year due to the tight nature of the circuit hampering overtaking opportunities.
Sunday's Grand Prix is a unique chance to see 20 Formula 1 cars speeding through the streets of the principality, and an unforgettable two hours of racing. As soon as that F1 calendar is announced, usually around F1's summer break, we'll bring you the full rundown right here on GRR. At 23 races it is the longest ever and remains subject to being approved by the FIA's World Motor Sport Council. The biggest change to the expected calendar is the removal, for the third year running, of the Chinese Grand Prix, with Imola stepping in to host its third Grand Prix in three years. Teams will be further restricted in the number of aerodynamic upgrades they can introduce to the car, both over the course of a race weekend and over the course of the championship. These rules were introduced to further cut the costs of competing.
Following the decision to delay the 2021 regulations to 2022, aerodynamic development of the cars was banned from 28 March 2020 to the end of 2020. "We look forward to welcoming more fans back next season and hope 2022 feels more normal than the life we have all experienced in the past two years. We are very pleased with the interest in Formula 1 from places that want to host races and the growth of the sport and believe we have a fantastic calendar for 2022 with destinations like Miami joining famous and historic venues. The 2022 championship season begins in Bahrain on March 20 and ends in Abu Dhabi on November 20. After the break, the second half of the season kicks off with the Belgian GP in Spa on Aug. 28 followed by one of the most popular Dutch GP in Zandvoort on September 4 and the iconic Italian GP in Monza a week later.
The Russian GP in Sochi will be held on September 25 and Singapore on October 2 which is subject to contract approval. Fans are in for a treat as the Grand Prix in Singapore will feature a street circuit yet again as the race had been cancelled this year and before that due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Later, Formula One will move ahead with the Spanish GP on May 22. F1 fans will then witness the showcase Monaco race one week later before the teams head to Baku in Azerbaijan on June 12. With the Formula 1 calendar for 2022 the leadership of the sport hopes to set a new record.
There are 23 races to be completed in perhaps the shortest season ever in terms of time. This is because the management does not want to get in the way of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar at the end of the year, so the season will end in November. There will be one brand new race, the Miami GP , with the Floridian city becoming the eleventh in the USA to host a Formula 1 race, after Riverside, Sebring, Watkins Glen, Long Beach, Las Vegas, Detroit, Dallas, Phoenix, Indianapolis and Austin. The big talking point ahead of the 2022 season is changes to the rules that the teams have to follow when building their car. Having been pushed back a year as a result of Covid, the 2022 regulations represent the biggest overhaul in the sport for years.
The Miami Grand Prix will be F1's return to the state of Florida for the first time since 1959. Taking place at the Miami International Autodrome in the Hard Rock Stadium complex in Miami Gardens, the new track will feature 19 corners and three straightaways. Grand Prix later this month at the Circuit of the Americas, which has been the race's home since 2012 with the exception of the 2020 event that was canceled because of the pandemic. For the first time since 1974, the top two drivers in the Formula 1 standings entered the season's final race tied in points.
The thrilling season-long championship battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen captivated avid F1 fans and brought in plenty of new ones. The 2022 Formula 1 season will feature a newly designed car with significant changes to aerodynamics, in an attempt to make following closely and overtaking easier for drivers. The FIA should also implement three rule changes to ensure more exciting races. 2022 will be the longest Formula 1 calendar to ever see the light of the day.
An organizational, sporting, logistical and media commitment that is unprecedented in the history of motorsports and that will force the teams, organizers, and sports marketing agencies to push even further. You can watch the F1 season live on FuboTV with a 7-day Free Trial. That explains why they are more expensive than just the regular access. The Turn 1 grandstand is popular for good reason, with excellent panoramic views of the circuit from the top of the hill overlooking the main straight and first corner. There's a big elevation change from the start/finish line to the first corner and the cars take the blind apex at low speeds, giving photographers a good chance to capture the action. This is the grandstand to choose if you are keen to know what is going on in the pits and experience the build up, start and finish of the race .
The atmosphere is always good here, but if you are after on-track action, it's not the best choice. The Main Grandstand also boasts some of the highest prices of any at the circuit, which is another consideration. A record-breaking 23-race calendar has been announced for the 2022 Formula 1 season, including the arrival of Miami and the return of the Australian, Canadian, Singapore and Japanese Grands Prix.
Although Albert Park returns to the calendar, the Bahrain Grand Prix will take the Melbourne circuit's usual slot as the first race of the season, with a week's gap to the second round on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit before Australia's return. No teams have confirmed when they'll be launching their cars yet, however with pre-season testing starting on February they'll need to be launched before that. As a rough guide, in 2021 McLaren was the first team to unveil its new car on 15 February with AlphaTauri and Alfa Romeo following suit on the 19 and 22 February respectively. There's further changes afoot too, with a brand-new race on next year's calendar and the expected return of some old favourites that were cut from the schedule amid the COVID-affected timetables in 2020 and 2021.
The second portion of the 2022 F1 calendar will most likely start with the Belgian and Italian GPs before the Formula 1 circus heads away from Europe to the Americas. While no actual dates have been given for the US and Miami grands prix it's expected that they will sit at least a few months away from each other on the calendar. The European season will then be punctuated by a return to Canada in June before the British Grand Prix moves to an early-July date before Austria.
